“How Acoustical Design Enhances Live Musical Performance”:
A Panel Discussion from DORMA Design Center and the Chelsea Music Festival
Coming up June 3 at the DORMA Design Center in Manhattan: an engaging discussion at the juncture of music and architecture. Join a quartet of experts as they consider how acoustical design enhances live musical performance, in an event affiliated with this year’s Chelsea Music Festival.
Panel members are moderator Renee Charles, associate director of AIG Architecture: Raj Patel, Raj Patel, Principal, Arup, Global Leader Acoustics, Audio-Visual, Theatre Consulting; Brett Leonard, sound engineer and PhD. candidate at McGill University; and Rogerio Boccato, percussionist and teacher. Each has been a participant in the festival, which happens in New York June 6-14. Panelists will explain their professional roles in the stages of producing high quality acoustical spaces: concept, design, execution, and operation.
The program starts at 6 p.m. with registration and a wine and snacks reception. Introductions and the panel presentation begin at 6:30. There’s no charge to attend, but attendees must register.
